Get back in the groove after a long weekend

Everybody loves a three day weekend, however getting yourself back into work mode after the weekend can be tough. Since you are on a short week anyway, making that first day back productive is extra important. So outside of drinking a case of energy drinks, here are three tips to keep you on task come the Tuesday after a holiday.

  1. Set easily attainable goals- Set small goals for yourself to hit about once an hour. The small victory of hitting your goal should motivate you to hit the next goal. Setting small goals also stops you from feeling overwhelmed by the amount of work that you have to do.

  2. Take breaks- If you feel yourself slowing down during the day, take a quick five minute break to get some fresh air and clear your head. This can work wonders when you have a mound of work and are trying to do ten things at once. This allows you to organize those task and refocus your energy on completing one at a time.

  3. Plan ahead for socializing- One of the biggest pitfalls of coming back from a long weekend is the temptation to tell everyone about how much fun you had. This can derail all of your productivity for the day if you are not careful. However if you build time into your day it can make the first day back not feel like such a drag. So you should plan ahead and set certain times for yourself to talk with others and set times where you are just going to put your nose to the grindstone and get things accomplished.

If you have any helpful productivity tips please comment with them below. Also hopefully everyone had a fun and safe Labor Day weekend.
